UNM Fraternity Member Faces Sex Charges

Aug 15, 2007

A University of New Mexico fraternity member faces a long list of sex charges. UNM Police officers arrested 24-year-old Michael McGuffin Tuesday night. He is accused of bringing underage girls to his room inside the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house, then engaging in sexual acts with them. Police said they found video of one of the teenage girls on McGuffin's cell phone and they accused McGuffin of videotaping at least two other girls. One girl was not even conscious at the time of the recording, according to investigators. Officers said they were tipped off about the case on Friday. They searched McGuffin's room and collected several videotapes, compact discs and a cell phone. Sigma Alpha Epsilon members told Action 7 News the fraternity is no longer associated with McGuffin. He is charged with statutory rape and criminal sexual exploitation of children.
