A convicted prostitute at the center of a Bradenton police sex scandal claimed she was beaten and shot at by her boyfriend, Manatee County Sheriff's Office deputies say.

Dawn Marie Gibson, 30, told deputies she and her live-in boyfriend were on their way to a nightclub when they started arguing at 11:30 p.m. Saturday night.

Gibson said Arnaldo Cameo, 42, grabbed her arm as she tried to exit their vehicle. She said he also hit her in the ribs, the sheriff's report said.

When the vehicle stopped at a red light on 15th Street East, Gibson said she ran. She said Cameo fired a gun down the road as she ran away, the sheriff's report said. Deputies said Gibson was scratched and bruised when they found her.

Cameo fled and was later found by deputies at his home in the 1000 block of 26th Street West. He has been charged with aggravated domestic assault with a firearm and domestic battery.

Gibson's claims against three former Bradenton police officers in May shook the police department as all three resigned amid inquiries.

She claimed to have had sex with former Officer Larry Jeff Pritchett in exchange for sex and drugs. Pritchett has denied her allegations through his attorney.

Gibson also claimed former Officer William Anderson had sex with a prostitute friend of hers in a police substation on 14th Street West.

Former police Det. Peter Biddlecome admitted to having a sexual encounter with Gibson in a car rented by police for undercover investigations.
