Police in Cumbria are reconstructing the scene of a sex attack on a female jogger in a bid to prompt further witnesses to come forward.

The woman was assaulted in the Carlisle area on the evening of 29 July.

On Thursday, officers will be on the path that links Denton Holme with Cummersdale and Dalston.

At the time of the attack a taxi was parked nearby, and police want to speak to the driver, whom they believe may hold vital information.

The Skoda Octavia was parked in the exit road from the Crematorium on Dalston Road.

'Violent assault'

Det Supt Cath Thundercloud said: "It is extremely important that we speak to whoever parked this taxi as they might be a witness to the sex attack.

"We would also urge all drivers of white Skoda Octavia taxis in the area to come forward so that we can rule them out of our enquiries.

"Even the smallest piece of information could prove vital to the investigation, and we will treat all witnesses in the strictest confidence.

"This was an unprovoked and violent assault on a lone female and all efforts are being made to catch the man responsible."
