A Columbus man was arrested in Fishers after he solicited someone he thought was a 15-year-old girl for sex on the Internet, police said.

Joseph I. Wood, 54, was arrested on felony charges of attempted sexual misconduct with a minor, child solicitation and dissemination of matter harmful to minors.

Police said Wood had several Internet chat-room conversations with a police investigator who Wood thought was a 15-year-old girl, starting in June. During a chat on Thursday, Wood solicited the "girl" for sex and requested a meeting, police said.

The investigator asked Wood to come to Fishers, and Wood was arrested when he arrived at the agreed location, police said.
