One of two convicted sex offenders on the run from police has handed himself in.

Joseph Taylor, 27, who absconded from a supervised hostel in York on Monday, was arrested at the city's railway station.

William Bailey, 58, who was spotted with Taylor at Sheffield railway station shortly before 9pm on Monday night, and absconded from a separate hostel in Rotherham, is still at large.

Police had warned that both men posed a threat to the public.

Bailey is described as 5ft 5ins tall with short whitish-grey hair, of slim build and with a pale complexion.
