The Brevard County School Board and law enforcement agencies plan to share information about whether sex predators or offenders are living near school bus stops after a Local 6 investigation.

A recent Local 6 report found a sex offender recently moved into a Brevard County neighborhood and was living in front of two bus stops.

Residents said they had not been notified and the Brevard County School District was not aware of the situation until the report.

"Before our investigation, there was sort of a black hole," Local 6's Donald Forbes said. "Police agencies knew where the sex offenders and predators lived and the School Board knew where the school bus stops were. But the two never got together and figured it out."

"I do want to thank the citizens who brought this forward to channel 6 and you Mr. Forbes for bringing this to our attention because as a result, we have identified a new initiative that will be taking place because of this investigation so we can take action to make our children even more safe," Brevard Security Superintendent Andrea Alford said.

Deputies said offenders are allowed to live near a bus stop but not within 1,000 feet of schools, parks and day care facilities.
