For the third time in as many weeks, an area child sex offender has failed to report his whereabouts to authorities.

A DuPage County grand jury indicted Roosevelt Lymas, 45, Tuesday on two counts of unlawful failure to report a change of address and unlawful residency of a child sex offender.

Lymas moved from his Naperville home on the 500 block of Kiowa Drive to Carol Stream without notifying police in either community, according to court records.

Despite the grand jury indictment, the Illinois sex offender online database lists Lymas as "compliant" and residing in Naperville. Lymas' online registry profile indicates he was convicted of criminal sexual assault of a 9-year-old in Cook County when he was 40 years old.

Lymas might have been residing in Carol Stream for as many as six months before the lapse was discovered when he attempted to register his new address with police June 12, detective Steve Cadle said.

Not only had Lymas allegedly violated the Child Sex Offender Registration Act, which requires convicted offenders to report changes of address within five days, statutorily he moved too close to a school, Cadle said.
