Fugitive Sex Offender Arrested In Boaz

Aug 9, 2007

A fugitive from Oklahoma is being held in the Marshall County Jail for failing to register as a sex offender.

Marshall County Sheriff Scott Walls said a tip led to Wednesday's arrest of Jon Wayne Johnson in Boaz. The U.S. Marshals Service said Johnson is a convicted sex offender who had been on the run since last year.

Walls said Johnson fled Oklahoma after he was convicted for two sex offenses that involved a young girl. Johnson was given a 15 year sentence, but the prison term was suspended and he was released.

Johnson's bond was set at $100,000.
